The work of Alfredo Casella, who was a major figure in 20th century Italian music, is unfortunately little known in Hungary. His ‘SymphonyNo. 1 in B Minor’, completed in the year 1906, when the composer was still young, is rarely performed even internationally. This monumental and romantic piece contains everything that could capture the imagination of a 22-year-old genius ranging from Brahms and Wagner to Bruckner and Russian composers. ‘SymphonyNo. 1 in B Minor’ is a magnificent, extremely complex and rich work: a true masterpiece. The soloist for the evening is Dorottya Láng, who has already proven herself in the world’s most famous concert halls and opera houses as an inspired interpreter of the works of Wagner, Richard Strauss, Bartók and Mahler. This time, we will hear Dorottya Láng perform Mahler’s early song cycle entitled ‘Songs ofa Wayfarer’.
